The darker side of me

There is one side of me my husband doesn´t see very often and when he see glimpses of it he looks at me like I´m out of my mind.
I call it my "darker side".

If you look through my CD´s you will see a vary varied mix of music. But a good part of them are different metal bands. And it´s when I put on one of those that my husband looks at me and says: What is this?

He doesn´t like metal the slightest but prefers to listen to Brazilian Fórro, country music kind of.
And if Faith/God/whatever you want to call it, had´t brought us together I would probably still live in London and be dressed in black most of the time. I still prefer black but it´s not the dominant color in my wardrobe any more.

And I miss that, I don´t miss the stressful life in London but I miss some of that, you think it will never end. I miss going to clubs and going out with my friends. I lived with a bunch of Swedes and we had so much fun.

Well those where the days... good memories.
And as for my husband, well I have never said I was sane...

What are you looking at?!?!

Imagine this situation: Your kid throws a fit on the street. He screams and cries for blocks, it´s a15 minute walk. You try to stay calm and make your kid quiet.
Nothing works.

To make it worse he is crying because you decided to take another street than the one he wanted.
So he cries like crazy.
And you are getting more and more upset.

And people stare. They turn around and stare.

What do you do in that situation?

Well I don´t do anything but looking straight ahead and walking as fast as I can looking really pissed off. And when I´m angry you can really tell that it´s not worth messing with me.
This scenario happened yesterday and I almost went totally crazy. I wanted to just shout "what the f* are you looking at??? Never seen a kid have a fit before?".
Obviously I didn´t do that.

So here is a serious question for you mommies: How do you deal with your kid after he has behaved this way? We are talking about a very clever little 3,5year old boy.

And the "funny" thing is that he never does this with my MIL when she picks him up. But he always comes up with something when I pick him up. And I do that at least 4 times a week. So when people sees him with my MIL they always comment that he is "scandalous" with me.
How funny is that??

So what should I do?

Last night i hear my husband saying; Linda, come! Come here now!
He is saying it very gentle and he is almost whispering. Leaving the dishes to themselves I go into the living room to see what is so important.

Choriço is laying a puzzle by himself!

We stood there in amazement looking at our son with pride in our hearts.
It was a small little paper puzzle with Bob Esponja(SpongeBob SquarePants). He had laid almost the whole puzzle, which contain about 12 pieces, all by himself.

Do you remember the first time your child laid a puzzle by him/herself??
It´s aboslutely worth remembering.

What a surprise....

I thought I liked washing clothes during the weekend and ironing late on Sunday nights.

I have always argued with my husband about that and kept my opinion very clear: let me iron on Sundays!

Well this week I tried something different, I washed everything twice this week, today as well, and ironed the last lot just now. And then it hit me: Wow! Now I don´t have to think about that on Saturday/Sunday but I can relax. One thing less on the weekend list...

Seriously.. how blind can one be?
I think I´ll try to keep this new thing going.. my hubby will like it that´s for sure! *lol*

When do you iron, weeks or weekends?Do you like it?

If you´re like me, really don´t like to iron, try to get a new steam iron they work wonderfully and it´s even fun to iron.

In my head....

This is what is stuck in my head at the moment. Don´t ask why, I just love this song. I am a fan of both Bono and Mary so of course I would like this song. :)

(feat. U2)
Mary J Blidge

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same?
Will it make it easier on you now?
You got someone to blame

You say one love, one life (one life)
It's one need in the night
One love (one love), get to share it
Leaves you darling, if you don't care for it

Did I disappoint you?
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without

Well it's too late, tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to carry each other
Carry each other

Have you come here for forgiveness?
Have you come to raise the dead?
Have you come here to play Jesus?
To the lepers in your head

Well, did I ask too much, more than a lot?
You gave me nothing, now it's all I got
We're one, but we're not the same
Well we, hurt each other
Then we do it again

You say
Love is a temple
Love is a higher law
Love is a temple
Love is the higher law
You ask me to enter
Well then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters and my
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other

One love

Wordless Wednesday # 18

Love and caring.

This is Love

What do you see when you look at this picture?
Eeeeh.. a dead plant?

Let me tell you what I see;

You see I took this picture to remind me of Love whenever life feels upside down.

My son and husband were cleaning our yard and my son picked these out of our little garden bush that e have on the front. Then he gave it to me. He wanted me to plant them in a new pot and he put them all there in my half dead basil pot.
I could see how happy and proud he was to give me flowers. He even put one behind my ear and said that I was the most beautiful mom on earth.

And I?
I felt loved.

Hey, I´m a BUSY Mama

Yes, I am busy! Let me tell you something about me, I am always up to something!
If I haven´t got anything to do, I find something to do. But with the list of things that I have on my ¨to do ¨list there is no need to worry that I will sitting on a chair doing nothing. In fact that would be nice. i have to see if I can find some time for that.

That is why the Blogging without obligation button is up in my sidebar. Because the amount of times that I will have to say: I´m sorry I haven´t updated in some time, will be too many.

So instead of wasting time on that I can write something more interesting when I have the time.
I found the button over at Annie´s blog, a very nice blog btw, and decided to follow the link to the button.

Here are the reasons for the button:

  • Because you shouldn't have to look at your blog like it is a treadmill.
  • Because its okay to just say what you have to say. If that makes for a long post, fine. Short post, fine. Frequent post, fine. Infrequent post, fine.
  • Because its okay to not always be enthralled with the sound of your own typing.
  • Because sometimes less is more.
  • Because only blogging when you feel truly inspired keeps up the integrity of your blog.
  • Because they are probably not going to inscribe your stat, link and comment numbers on your tombstone.
  • Because for most of us blogging is just a hobby. A way to express yourself and connect with others. You should not have to apologize for lapses in posts. Just take a step back and enjoy life, not everything you do has to be "bloggable".
  • Because if you blog without obligation you will naturally keep your blog around longer, because it won't be a chore. Plus, just think you will be doing your part to eradicate post pollution. One post at a time. . .
Now I don´t have to worry about feeling bad whenever I haven´t updated in some time :) Of course it will be on my mind but I will try to ignore it. *lol*

Friday´s Feast 155

What is your favorite kind of pie?
Rhubarb pie, too bad there are no rubarbs here where I live.

Name something that made you smile this week.
My son, he is becoming so clever and says things all the time that surprises me and makes my day.

What do you do to cool off when the weather is hot and humid?
Here in Brazil most people actually lie down on the floor, the cold tiles cools you off. I don´t, I eat ice cream instead :)

Main Course
You receive $1,000 in the mail with a letter that says you can only use the money to redecorate one room in your home. Which room do you pick, and what do you buy to spruce it up?
Oh dear, I would definitely re decorate my living room. I would buy nice paintings and some comfortable chairs, futons, and I would buy plants and a bookshelf. Oh and I would love to have a glass shelf as well, to put nice decorations on.

Fill in the blank:
My __husband___ says __I´m lazy_, but I _don´t agree, I am just very relaxed_.

More Feasts over at Friday´s Feast.

If you wonder what this is I can tell you that it is Jabuticaba. A typical Brazilian fruit that grows on a big tree. It´s quite tasty!

Remembering those little things

My memory is bad. I would actually go to the extent to say that it is cr*p. See there I said it and now you know it.

Of course I remember silly things and non important things but the everyday things I tend to forget. The other day I asked my husband if he remember what Choriço looked like when he was a baby. And he said no, and I admitted that I didn´t remember either.

I remember but I don´t remember the exact looks on his face or so. Of course we do have a photograph up from when he was tiny, we really need to get more photos up, so we can remind ourselves when we look at that. But apart from that, no...
And it scares med, I want to remember! But the thing is that when you see someone everyday you don´t see the changes.

It´s the same thing with remembering what you looked like yourself 10 years ago. Sure you can see the difference, but did you see the changes happening everyday when you looked in to the mirror? I guess not.

So I am eternally grateful to Alhazen (Ibn Al-Haytham)that invented the first Camera obscura! Without that we might not have had a real camera today.

I do hope that I remember what I looked like in my youth when I´m old and got wrinkles :) *lol*

I love tweaking with my blogs and I always try to come up with something new. The other day I tweaked my comments, as you can see it now says coffee cups on the table instead of comments.

If you click on comments the pop up screen will come with a little message.
Then if you click on a post you will see further tweaking where it says how many comments have been left and my thanks to you and a little different comment section.

Sound confusing? Put some coffee cups on this table and go back and check you cup. :)

Chicky chicky

If you are a mom you usually want to network with other moms, share experiences.

Most women have a need to talk to other women, especially after you become a mom.
I have noticed that here in Brazil this is not very common. There are not organizations for mothers, no groups or anything like that.

When I first moved here I was used to meet up with other moms and go to baby/toddler clubs but here I was totally isolated.

Well thankfully the net is full of places to meet other moms!
So here I am starting the first of what hopefully will be one out of several other posts about Mom networking.

First out is - The chick website.
Filly is not a mom focused website, but hey sometimes you just want to get away from all the baby talk. We are women after all and we have a need to talk about fashion and other more intimate stuff with other women.

On Filly you can find articles about health, fashion, entertainment, life. You can also chat in their forum and talk about whatever you want. The forum is not very active, but we can change that right?

I like the layout, it´s easy to navigate and find what you are looking for.
And the colors are nice, pinkish and warm.

You can also contribute to Filly, if you like to write about health, fashion and other subjuects they are looking for contributors.

Have a look and feel free to tell me what you think about

Wordless Wednesday August 1st

This is from one of the parks here, mostly for those who want´s to workout/run. There is a stage in the park as well for events. I bet those stairs are great for a butt workout ;)
