A chicken Mama

In Sweden we say that you are a "chicken mama" (hons mamma). Basically what a chicken mama does is that she is very protective of her chicks (kids).

I felt like one this morning actually. Because it's so cold outside I made sure my Choriço put on 3 jumpers and a jacket. But I still wasn't happy so I dug out my big pink (we are talking really pink) scarf and added to all that.
That and I was happy. Oh I forgot to say that of course he was wearing mittens and a red hat as well.

The mittens I bought yesterday and he actually slept with them. I didn't stop him, I actually thought it was a good idea :)

I don't think he was cold going to nursery today :)

The laid back Mama

I really wonder what they say behind my back over at my son's nursery. They probably say: This kid has no boundaries, they let him do everything.

Yes and it might seem so actually.
We have been struggling with changing clothes in the morning now for over a year. That's how long he has been to nursery. Every morning it's the same thing: It's impossible to get him to put on clothes. Talking is not leading any where, neither is screaming or threatening (which I of course do not agree you should use, but hey I am only a mother).
Nothing works.

So what do we do? Well it came to a point where I could not take the fights in the morning any longer so I simply stopped dressing him.
I spoke to his "tia" (caretaker or what ever it's are called), who totally understood and said that it was OK to just bring the clothes and they would put them on. They wear uniform.

Well we still have issues with the dressing bit but it's better.

Another thing my son does: he brings films to the nursery.
No I don't agree but then again, hey I am only a mother and I am sick and tired of fighting.
He loves film, he gets very excited about films. Yesterday he got a Woody Woodpecker film, he absolutely adores WW so of course he wanted to bring that.

Yes I could've said no and instead carried my child to nursery in tears. But I didn't.

Do I really need to feel bad about this?
I know I laid back but I try to educate my son in other things. Like respect and being kind and loving.
That is what I think is important.

But I also say that you can not get all you want all the time.

I'm with a heater

Instead of happily saying that I am with child I say that I am with a heater!
And I am just as happy. OK it's not the same joy but I am definitely grateful.

I said to my husband last year that I thought we should by a heater. He wasn't too keen on the idea and I thought that the only portable heaters were the ones with a kind of fan. Which I had when we lived in London and I didn't like it oo much.

Well all that changed when I went to my friend M's house the other week. I saw that they had a heater tht looks just like the ones that are installed only that it was a portable one.

On Thursday night I was freezing like crazy! I was sleeping with two jumpers, a pair of leggings and socks and double covers. And I was still cold. Then I decided that that was it! I said to my husband: We are buying a heater no matter hat you say. I refuse to be freezing inside all the time!

And thankfully, this morning we bought a small heater.
It's not heating just as much as I'd like but it's definitely better than it was before!

No more writing with gloves on!! * sounds crazy but that's what I was doing yesterday*

Congratulations Kate!

Congratulations to Kate who is the winner of either $20 gift Voucher from Amazon.com or a Brazilian Goodie box!

Revka let one of her daughters choose the header winner and she picked number 14 which happened to be Suzel! Congratulations!!

It has been great to have this little contest. Sure the prize might be modest and not appeal to many but it's also fun with contests! Whether you win or not and if you don't enter you can't win.
I never win contest! So I am glad and very grateful that Revka made my header :)
Thanks Revka!

Please note that Revka is moving!
She is changing her design address to http://designsbyrs.com instead of the wordpress one. Please update your links.

Contest ending

Yes the contest has come to an end. Last day today and tomorrow we will find out who the lucky winner is!
So if you want a chance to win, hurry up!

So now when the contest has come to and end it also means that I can start rambling here as I want to do. :)
I'll stat right now; I am at home with a sick child.
Poor Choriço was sick last night and hasn't eaten anything today. He tried eating an orange but it all came up again. I really have to get him to eat something or he won't get better. Oh yes, he ate a small nugget and so far it's OK.

It's cold.
Too cold for my liking. I am trying to get warm by drinking coffee but it's not helping very much.

The puppies are getting so big! I have 6 beautiful puppies here that now have started to walk around the whole yard. Well so far they stay at the back but it won't be long until I have to start looking for them at the front. I really don't want to give them away but I have no choice unfortunately.

Have to continue my blogging round, time for next blog.
Oh, and so far no one has signed up for This Month's Mama. *hint hint*

The header is made by Revka from RS Design. She opened her header business a few weeks back and we started talking about having a contest to tell everyone about our new blogs.
So from today we are starting with the kickoff contest!

You can win:
A free header from Revka, she will work closely with you to make sure you are happy with everything.
Or you can win a $20 Gift certificate from Amazon.com. *Unless you have a very good suggestion for something else you would like to win*
Or you can swap you Amazon gift voucher for a Brazilian Goodie Box sent to your door.

How to win:
It's really easy, you write a post about the contest, link to both RSDesign and Mama's Coffee Corner, sign Mr. Linky at the blog offering the prize you want to win. If you would like to win both prizes, sign up at both blogs.

We will be holding the contest for one week, beginning today. (May 17-24)
Winners will be announced on May 25.

Good Luck!

Almost finished

Or actually it is finished.
This blog is hereby no longer under construction.

The only thing that I need to see to is the label cloud that is not showing in IE. So if you are using IE, please note that there is supposed to be a label cloud under "On the coffee table".

If anything else looks strange, please tell me.

Sorry but WHO are you?

That might be a question for those not knowing me.
Well as you've already figured from my info I am Swedish and live in Brazil. I have been living here for almost 3 years now and I am a mother to a wonderful little boy.

I have been working as an English teacher here in Brazil but I am about to give that up I think. I speak British English, the Brazilians speak Amerikan. Do they understand me? In most cases: no. So these days I have adapted and speak some kind of BritAmerican English that sounds terrible in my ears. :)

I work from home, so I am a WorkAtHomeMom.
I love to blog!
I write about Fitness everyday over at Daily Power Walk, I blog about working at home over at Making A Happy Life and if you are hungry or in need of inspiration I also blog about Brazilian food over at Brazilian Food Love.

I try to update as often as I can but time has a way of slipping through my fingers.
I also love to chat! You can talk to me about anything! :)

Of course ther is a lot more to know about me but that you will find out in time... :)
Now why don't you tell me about you?

Happy Mother's Day!

This is our day!

Really I would never have thought that it was such a big thing to be a mother.
Until I became one.
I had never, as many other moms, thought that it was possible to love someone so much.
Unconditional love.

I look at my son several times a day and think: is he really mine? How have I managed to get a beautiful son like this? And I thank God that I have been blessed with this beautiful person to full fill my life.
He is kind and loving, gives me lots of kisses everyday and tells me that he loves me. He also bites me, kicks me, screams that he doesn't like me; that he prefers his dad etc.

But I still love him, because I know that his heart if filled with love and I will always be his mother. No one can take that away from me.

Happy Mother's Day!

I am freezing!!

It is freeeeezing cold here in Brazil at the moment! OK it was only 12C this morning but that is cold!! And don't tell me: Well you are Swedish you should be used to cold weather! I can't stand it when people say that!

I'm sorry but it really annoys me.

Actually it's warmer outside than inside. But I haven't got a laptop so I'll have to stay inside...

I love you Mommy

"Amo voce Maé"- Love you mommy.

This is what my son of 3 is saying everyday at the moment. The other day he repeated it at least 5 times/hour. And of course I always say that I love him too.
My husband doesn't always say so but I believe it's important to encourage him to express his feelings.

Well that was last week and this week I'm not as loved.
"Amo voce náo"- I don't love you. That's what I was told several times yesterday and every time I replied: Well mommy loves you very very much!

If I was to say: "Mommy doesn't love you either", then what would I pass on to him?

I have the cutest little boy, he is a kind and loving boy and I hope he always stays like that.

That is only to make sure the spot is never empty. If many blogs are added I will consider to do it for 3weeks at a time.

What are you waiting for!?! Send that email today!

Too quiet?

Has it been too quiet in here do you think looking at the last post being dated 18/4? Well there's a reason for that. I have done that on purpose.

Reason being, I didn't want to start updating the blog too much before it's about to launch. And now the time has come closer and I can start writing in here as planned.

So what can you expect to see in here?
Well, basically all my ramblings that were supposed to go on my now WAHM blog, Making A Happy Life. It turned in to a more work from home blog than a ramblings blog so I didn't feel that I had a place to say what on my mind exactly at the precis moment. Now I do.

I will probably write lots of uninteresting information and stuff you won't even comment on. But I hope to write things and share experiences that you can relate to and like as well.

I want to meet lots of mommy or non mommy bloggers :)
